Dillon Beach - Northern California’s friendliest dog & kid beach.

Dillon Beach has always been one of my favorite spots. I grew up visiting each year with my family. It was super nostalgic and magical to bring my own family back and have Dillon Beach Resort host us. #DillonBeachResortPartner

Located near Tamales Bay - about 2–2.5 hours from Sacramento. The drive is stunning, through rolling hills and farmland. (It’s part of the experience!) Our cabin wasn’t ready quite yet so we stopped in Tamales on the way down to the beach and checked out the general store and played at the community park to stretch our legs and get some energy out.

Dillon Beach is one of the most popular dog beaches in Northern California because dogs are allowed to roam off-leash.

With calm waves and a wide, sandy beach that stretches for miles it makes for the perfect kid-friendly beach too!

Our family stayed in one of the Coho Cottages. It had the most amazing view of the beach! With plenty of space for our family of six to sleep in. It has a bedroom with a full sized bed downstairs. Then upstairs in the loft area it has another full-sized bed and a twin sized bed. Downstairs in the living area the couch pull-out into a bed as well.

Use promo code: SACTOWN for 20% off your stay available weekdays or weekends through the end of April.

LOOK at that view! It was incredible!

There is a General Store and surf shop, just steps away from the cottages. Fully stocked with food, merchandise and delicious soft served ice cream (get the salted-caramel) They also have a restaurant on-site called the Coastal Kitchen, serving delicious locally sourced food.

This laid-back, small town beach, tucked away in the hills is the perfect escape for families!

We love spending the whole day down at the beach, playing and boogie boarding in the waves, making sand castles, playing in the sand dunes, walking along the cliffs and exploring the tree forest, tide-pooling at the far end of the beach, walking the length of the beach to Lawson’s Landing, playing baseball and catching the football, flying a kite and making a fire and roasting s’mores at the end of the day.

The cottages are so close that it makes it easy to go back an forth with young kids. Be sure to pack layers. It gets cold here! If your kids are anything like mine, you will need 2-3 changes of clothes per day.
