Everything You Need to Know About Visiting Apple Hill
Since I was a little girl, Apple Hill has always been one of my favorite things about fall. No joke—every time the season rolls around, I immediately start craving their famous apple donuts!
You really can’t go wrong no matter which farm you visit. Apple Hill is a collection of more than 50 farms, ranches, wineries, bakeries, and businesses throughout the Placerville and Camino area. While some locations are open year-round, the magic really comes alive during peak fall season.
With so many places to choose from, it can be hard to know where to start, so I put together some of our favorite spots to help you plan your perfect Apple Hill day!
Tip: Download the official Apple Hill app to browse all the farms, see what each location is currently offering, and check seasonal activities before you go.
Our Favorite Apple Hill Stops
High Hill Ranch
Known as the largest and one of the most visited Apple Hill farms, High Hill Ranch has a little bit of everything—shops, delicious food, pony rides, fishing, and more. This is always our first stop!
Hidden Star Camino
This is a great spot for kids! They have a large children's play area featuring life-size trucks and airplanes that little ones can climb in and explore. There’s also plenty of outdoor seating where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views.
Rainbow Orchards
If you love apple cider donuts, do not skip Rainbow Orchards! They’re known for their warm Hot Apple Cider Donuts, and they’re every bit as delicious as they sound.
Boa Vista Orchards
Boa Vista is one of our favorite places to browse the market and bakery. Be sure to check their calendar for seasonal events and themed foods that change throughout the year. We always pick our pumpkins here and take our traditional family photo while we’re there.
They also offer free samples of cider and fruit, which makes it fun to try all the different varieties without having to buy them all. Pro tip: Grab a bag of Asian pears!
Delfino Farms
If you’re looking for beautiful fall scenery, don’t miss Delfino Farms. It has one of my favorite views in Apple Hill, with a grassy slope overlooking the orchards and gorgeous fall colors.
They also have a corn maze on Saturdays and Sundays and plenty of open space for kids to run and explore. And don’t leave without trying their famous Walkin’ Pie! Pro tip: Take home a frozen pie to bake for Thanksgiving. You’ll thank me later!
Apple Ridge Farms
Stop by for their blooming flower trail, which is happening now, along with delicious seasonal treats and cider.
Eldorado Orchards
The kids will love the little train that travels around the lake. It’s a fun way to take in the scenery and give little legs a break. The train is open Friday–Sunday.
Pine-O-Mine
A great stop for food and U-pick activities. Keep an eye on their event calendar, too, as they often have live music that makes for a fun afternoon.
Abel’s Apple Acres
Head here for the Children’s Field of Fun, which is packed with activities to keep the little ones entertained.
Fudge Factory Farm
A fun family stop with a kids’ play area and animals to visit.
24 Carrot Farm
If you love flowers, add this one to your list! They offer U-pick flowers, making it a beautiful stop for a fall bouquet and some pretty photos.
When Should You Visit Apple Hill?
If you want to enjoy Apple Hill without the biggest crowds, I recommend planning your visit in the next couple of weeks before peak fall season really gets going.
If you’re visiting during peak season, go early! We went around 9 a.m. last September and had absolutely no trouble getting in. By around 11 a.m., however, there were already long lines of cars waiting to get into High Hill Ranch.
So get an early start, and make a day of it!
Apple Hill is one of those places we come back to year after year, and I hope this guide helps you make some of your own favorite fall memories.
Roseville Golfland Sunsplash: Fright Nights & Spooktacular Golf
Looking for a Halloween outing that’s a little more thrilling? Head to Roseville Golfland Sunsplash for Fright Nights, where the park gets a spooky makeover for the season!
The main attraction is The Gauntlet Haunted House, an all-indoor haunted maze filled with special effects, animatronics, and plenty of scares. It’s recommended for guests 13 and older, so this one is definitely geared toward the older kids, teens, and adults looking for a good scare.
Want something a little less terrifying? Take on a round of Spooktacular Golf instead! One of Golfland’s 18-hole mini golf courses gets a Halloween transformation, complete with spooky decorations and graveyards along the course. It’s a fun option for the whole family—and you can still get into the Halloween spirit without being chased through a haunted house!
📍 Roseville Golfland Sunsplash
1893 Taylor Road, Roseville
Tip: Check the current haunt schedule before you go, since dates and attraction availability can change.
